Yes. An active satellite subscription is required to access the Iridium network for messaging, tracking, and SOS. Garmin offers annual packages or flexible month-to-month plans.

How does the SOS feature work?

In an emergency, you can trigger an interactive SOS message to the Garmin IERCC, a 24/7 staffed emergency response coordination center, and communicate two-way until help arrives.

Can I text regular phones with it?

Yes. You can send and receive text messages to SMS and email, post to social media, and message inReach-to-inReach in the field.

How long does the battery last?

Up to 14 days at the default 10-minute tracking interval, up to 30 days at a 30-minute interval, and up to 1 year when powered off. It recharges via USB-C.
